Evaluation

The last part of the process is analysising all my work I have done towards creating a trailer and going my ancillary tasks. To do this I will create a PowerPoint to explain and describe the process in which I have done this. The questions which I need to answer are:
  • In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media?
  • How effective is the combination of real media products?
  • What have you learned from your audience feedback?
  • How did you use new media technologies in constrction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Interview with Actress

This shows an interview with the actress which took part in our trailer. I thought it would be interesting to hear her views on the trailer. In the interview I asked her different questions compared to the other audience feedback on the trailer. I asked her personal questions about the make-up and costume, her best experience and so on. I was delighted to find out that she actually enjoyed watching the trailer because, she said it was good to see all her acting put together to make the horror. I am glad she enjoyed her experience.

Audience Feedback

For my audience feedback, I used the camera on my phone to asked random students. In the end I asked 6 people to watch my trailer and answer questions about it. These two videos are the feedback two what they think ofour trailer.
I was pleased with the audience feedback, I was glas that the people I asked spoke truthly about the trailer, and didn't respond to just yes and no. When asking the questions such as which part was created the most tension, I was pleased with the mixed response. Some of the people thought the beginning because of the writting, which makes the audience questions, and some people thought the ending, with the girl walking towards the camera, also the flash on the girl between the 'Coming Soon' and the camera.
Overall, using a camera to record what my target audience was a great way to collect peoples feedback on the trailer. I thought it was much more inspirational to get a one to one insight to the audiences thoughts in comparison to what they have written on paper.

Complete Magazine

After many alternation, my magazine is finally complete. My blog shows the progresion of my magazine, and the devleopment from changing the focal image to the style of font for my masthead. I am pleased with the end product, and I have tried my hardest to use all the same convention as a real published magazine.

Focal Image

The image below represents how I did the focal image. The image I use was from the photo shoot we did. I ended this image using a programme called, 'Photoshop' It is a simple way to edit pictures. As you can see I edited the eyes to all white, I thought that having no pupil in the eye would he so eerie and scary, this would automatically suggest it is a horror to my audience as it is so unsual. As you can see, I got a matching colour to the white of the eye and simply painted over the pupil in white, below shows you part of that process. I also played around with the colour, making it sharper and brighter. I mainly made the picture more clearer and sharper, but also I tried to make is darker, to make the genre shout out at the audience.

Masthead
The masthead is the brand recognition. If my magazine was published monthly, the masthead would be something is it keep the same, so the buyer would recognise it in a shop next to several other film magazines. The masthead is something which stands out on my magazine, it is an important convention which I believe should be striking.

Colour Pallet
For the colour scheme, They have concentrated on my target audience. This magazine is aimed at both male and female and therefore they have  chosen  colours relevant to both sexes so therefore I have chosen the colours, white, black, grey and red.
My Magazine colour scheme is relating to the genre of my trailer, Horror. The black, grey represents the death and evil, the red represents blood and vulnerability and the white associates with Innocence.

Sky line
The skyline is the text which is above the mast head. ‘The fresh guide to films!’ When researching into movie magazines most of the magazine I looked at had a skyline and therefore I thought it would be appropriate to include

Pug
It is a convention which highlight an attraction to lure. My main attractions are the ‘WIN!’ and ‘FREE’ from my audience feedback I learnt that some people only buy magazines for the pug or they prefer that magazines have free things included in the magazine. I used bold capital letters to mate my pugs stand out.

Sell lines
This convention focuses on what the magazine includes. The sell lines are something which lures the target audience in. It picks to key parts o f the magazine which the audience will be interested in reading and advertising it on the cover. I used Bold lettering using the words ‘PLUS!’ and ‘EXCLUSIVE’ to attract the audience.

Anchorage Text
This is part of the cover which explains the focal image. For my anchorage text is says’ The Innocent’ I thought that it would be prominent to use the title do my trailer, I thought this was good idea because people will recognise the title of the trailer and link it to when they saw the trailer or the poster etc. I also have anchorage text saying  “Scariest movie since the exorcist” I thought that if I had a quote included on my cover, it is like word of mouth, people will think well someone thinks its good, i’ll have to go to see this movie.

Barcode and Price
The Barcode is placed at the bottom, I put it at the bottom on my magazine as I think it isn't one of the most important conventions of a magazine. It is hard to see from the picture but I also have the price of my magazine next to it. The Price is something that shouldn’t be advertised and stand out, I think this because I think the audience should be attracted to the magazine rather than considering the price.

Development of my Final Poster

This shows the devleopment of my magazine. How I used stasted with a few features of the magazine, using certain conventions such as the Masthead, skyline, anchorage text and gradually built it up.
I believe that the magazine is extremely effect, I prefer the conventions such as the sell line and the lures because they look the most professional and stand out the most. If I was going to change anything, I would adapt or change the focal image and prehaps have a better colour scheme. The colour scheme fits the genre of the trailer, which the black, white, grey and red, but I don' think these colours would stand out as much I would want it to. Therefore, these are the main conventions which I would adapt and change if I had the chance.

Audience Feedback

Today, I got audience feedback on the two magazine covers which are shown in one of my previous blogs. I printed the two magazines off which had the different focal images and ask a class of 13 which they preferred and they all preferred the picture with the medium close up, therefore I will be using this magazine for my final magazine.

The Development of my Magazine cover

At the moment I am in the process of creating my magazine, I have a basic structure to my magazine however, I know that the focal image is an important convention of a magazine. Therefore, I have two drafts which I have done using different images to see which I prefer. I will ask a few people which they prefer.
Personally, I prefer the top magazine, I think that all the conventions stand out much more with this image, the image has been edited on photoshop and I edited the eyes to white to add to the effect of death. The colours are much more prominent for this magazine and the medium close up is on of the convetions which I noticed that many other Film magazines use.
However, I like the other magazine aswell, I like the picture and the layout, the head overlapping the title makes the magazine more professional and show my capablity to edit on photoshop.

However, I think that this magazine does not stand out mas much as the focal image uses dull colours and I don't think it stand out as much in contrast to other magazine I have seen.

The structure of the both magazines are the same however I have just inverted the colours to make then stand out against the background colour.

These magazines are unfinished at the moment, as I need to add more text and stand heading to make the magazine more stereotypical. I just wanted to contrast the two magazine to see which I prefer, this is one level of editing which I wanted to show, which shows the process of the development of my magazine.
